Detroit Lions Amon-Ra St. Brown 'Hot' Regarding Pro Bowl Snub

For NFL players, there is a desire to earn the respect of your peers, and to be acknowledged as being among the best at your respective position.

For Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, not being named to the Pro Bowl stung. His statistical achievements this season should clearly dictate he is among the top players at his position.

Many supporters were surprised the 24-year-old was named as only a first alternate to this year's Pro Bowl Games.

Normally the most outspoken Lions during his weekly media sessions, Thursday had a slightly different tone.

"I was hot. But, the the receivers that got picked are all great players. But, uh, that was hard. Yeah."

While the third-year wideout was attempting to present the proper pubic attitude, the emotional was clearly written on his face.

When asked if the feeling he experienced discovering he was a first alternate was similar to the mood he was in after falling in the draft, St. Brown expressed, "Uh, I guess, I mean, I was pissed."

For St. Brown, the motivation now is to keep improving and to go harder the rest of the season.

"I mean, yeah, I guess I didn't do enough during the season, so I got to go harder."

Facing a Vikings team the Lions defeated a couple of weeks ago should present its normal challenges, but the team and its standout wideout are prepared for the season finale.

"We just played about two weeks ago," St. Brown said. "Kind of tough, you got to get the same opponent this early, back-to-back, or this soon. Obviously they're going to try to do something different with little wrinkles.

"We got different ways to -- but for the most part, at this point of the season, you kind of are who you are. But, we got different stuff up for them. I'm sure they're gonna have to different step for us. Like I said, it's gonna come down to us executing, picking up all the different looks that they show, the blitz and everything. But it should be a good game."
