£86m flop is playing his way out of Manchester United plans

Manchester United flop Antony was non-existent despite starting yet another Premier League match.

There was a time this season when I felt Erik ten Hag could be afforded patience with the tricky Brazilian, but not whilst his performance resembled a bottle of Coke gone flat.

The fizz Antony planned to bring to Old Trafford is non-existent. He, in turn, is playing his way out of Manchester United’s plans.

Yet another disappointing signing but we’ve got to give the new recruitment team, led by INEOS, a chance to get their foot under the table. It takes time. They could start by cutting their loses with Antony.

United have Alejandro Garnacho attacking from the left, Rasmus Hojlund feeding on little service through the centre and a big hole vacant on the right. Antony – for the money we paid to sign him – should be that player. But he’s anything but.

Maybe it’s time to consider the sensational talent we’ve got in the academy, or Amad Diallo, but something different before I lose all of my hair like Ten Hag. Bald is best after all…

Manchester United need to move on quickly

With options limited due to injury in the rest of the team, Antony isn’t Ten Hag’s biggest problem right now.

The Brazilian only has himself to blame for making little of the opportunities he has had at United this season.

Antony’s runs in the team this season have only served to convince most people that he’s not up to it – perhaps not now, perhaps not ever.
